Every child deserves to hear
27 million children – experience hearing loss and live in low- and middle-income countries with little to no access to hearing care.1 For children the consequences are serious: hearing loss can contribute to delayed speech and language development, emotional and social challenges–and significantly reduce a child’s prospects for the future.
Providing access to hearing health care for children and families
Initiated in 2006 by Sonova Group, Hear the World Foundation supports children in low- and middle-income countries who require access to audiological care. Hear the World Foundation envisions a world where children with hearing loss enjoy equal opportunities.
The foundation supports local project partners from Europe to the Middle East, Asia, Africa and South America, with technology, financial resources, and expertise to sustainably grow impact in those regions. Sonova Group employees volunteer with the foundation and provide support and expertise, both on-site and remotely, in the areas of audiology, operations, marketing, and communications.

Why does Sonova have a foundation?
Millions of people live with hearing loss not because there’s no solution, but because awareness, diagnosis, and access to hearing care are still out of reach. Hear the World Foundation exists to close this gap by supporting hearing care in underserved communities where access remains limited. Together with the Foundation, we bring employees, customers, partners, and local organizations together to strengthen hearing care systems that can continue to grow sustainably. Our ambition is not only to improve individual lives, but to build stronger local hearing care systems that create lasting impact for entire communities.
How does Sonova support Hear the World Foundation financially?
As the Foundation’s largest donor, Sonova has committed significant funding to expand hearing care in underserved communities beyond the reach of commercial healthcare markets. In addition, Sonova covers 100% of the administrative costs of Hear the World Foundation, which means that every donation goes directly to their local project partners, and the children and families experiencing hearing loss.
