The Innovation Center Toronto Team introduces itself

We are the Sonova Innovation Centre located in Canada. With two sites (one inTorontoand one inKitchener, Ontario Canada), our team focuses on exploratory and market readiness research studies in relation to hearing related technologies. As hearing aids evolve and newer technology is made, hearing aid research also has to adapt to these trends. This not only means changing how we test the hearing aids, but also what aspects we want to test.
A project we recently finished and published investigated how a new motion based beamformer compares to conventional beamformers. Novel aspects from this study included trying to measure environmental awareness and testing hearing aids that have motion sensors inside of them!
Other than testing hearing aid features, we are also actively testing new research methods and how this can improve hearing aid research. Current collaborations with various universities allow us to test new technology and determine it’s viability for future research projects at Sonova.
Lastly, the ICT is involved in validation projects to help ensure that our products meet the requirements set by the various regulatory bodies. We often work closely with the CAM team to determine what is required, the timeline, and how to achieve it.
The ICT is always recruiting and adding people to our database for future studies. If you or know of anyone who would like to join future research studies, please have them complete the form below.
