Es ist so ausgefeilt, dass sie selbst in stockdunkler Nacht umherfliegen und Beute erlegen kann. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ein Geheimnis ist der namensgebende Federschleier in ihrem Gesicht. Dieser f\u00e4ngt noch das leiseste Rascheln eines Beutetiers im Gras ein \u2013 \u00e4hnlich wie eine Parabolantenne \u2013, die steifen Federn am Rand des Schleiers verst\u00e4rken den Schall. Der Federkranz schwingt mit, vergleichbar dem Resonanzk\u00f6rper eines Musikinstrumentes, w\u00e4hrend die fein ver\u00e4stelten Federn im Inneren des Schleiers den Schall schnell durchlassen. So h\u00f6rt die Schleiereule Ger\u00e4usche, welche zehnmal leiser sind als diejenigen, welche die meisten Menschen wahrnehmen. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eine weitere Besonderheit ist fast unsichtbar: Das eine Ohr der Eule liegt etwas h\u00f6her als das andere. \u201eDas untere Ohr pr\u00fcft, was am Boden passiert, das andere h\u00f6rt \u201enach oben\u201c, erkl\u00e4rt Sonovas Experte in Sachen H\u00f6rforschung Stefan Launer, Vice President Science &#038; Technology. Der Schall gelangt aufgrund dieser Asymmetrie erst zum schallzugewandten, und dann zum schallabgewandten Ohr. \u201eDamit kann die Eule Ger\u00e4usche r\u00e4umlich sehr gut einordnen\u201c, erl\u00e4utert Launer. Die V\u00f6gel k\u00f6nnen mit ihren Ohr\u00f6ffnungen also Schall aus allen Richtungen orten und so gewissermassen in 3D h\u00f6ren. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Asymmetrie ist Programm \u2013 und Wissenschaftler interessieren sich schon lange f\u00fcr die Frage, wie das Gehirn einen an beiden Ohren versetzt eintreffenden akustischen Reiz zu einer einzigen, r\u00e4umlichen Wahrnehmung kombiniert. Das dahinterstehende Prinzip der Verarbeitung dient auch als Vorbild f\u00fcr den Aufbau hochintegrierter Schaltkreise: \u201eEs hat viele Wissenschaftler und Ingenieure inspiriert, sogenannte Richtmikrofon-Systeme zu entwickeln. Diese erlauben es, Schallquellen pr\u00e4zise zu orten und st\u00f6rende Ger\u00e4usche vom gew\u00fcnschten Zielsignal zu differenzieren\u201c, f\u00fchrt Stefan Launer aus. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Auf die Tr\u00e4ger von H\u00f6rger\u00e4ten der Sonova Marken Phonak und Unitron \u00fcbertragen bedeutet die Anwendung des Eulen-Prinzips ein grosses St\u00fcck Lebensqualit\u00e4t: Sie k\u00f6nnen zum Beispiel einzelne Sprecher in Situationen mit diffusen Ger\u00e4uschquellen viel besser verstehen.
