1947 – the year the sound barrier was broken twice

70 years ago our company broke through the barrier of hearing loss. The sound barrier was also broken by Chuck Yeager with his rocket aircraft Bell X-1. He did this with two broken ribs he had suffered after falling from a horse. It is this very attitude that makes Chuck Yeager a special man: never giving up, always striving to achieve his goal, and thus finally succeeding. Breaking the sound barrier was – and still is – more than just a “sonic boom”. It’s a metaphor for challenging the status quo and revving the engines for a better future.
